Acorn has built a relationship with local schools for 11-18 year old pupils. Each year we provide the school with the opportunity to have some of their students come and work within our environment as part of their work experience. Having this relationship in place allows us to meet our target of at least one 14-16 and one 16+ completing their work experience at Acorn.
This is started with a letter from the school with the pupil’s details including any medical information in order for us to ascertain the suitability of the pupil for the jobs that they may encounter throughout their work experience. Once the pupils have been chosen, a response is sent back to the school with a copy of the risk assessment and a brief job description of the tasks and an invite for a representative of the school to visit our office in order for them to see the environment that their student will be working in.
Any student that completes their work experience at Acorn is requested to give feedback to their teacher as to how beneficial they found their experience at Acorn and whether they feel there is anything that we can improve on.
