Acorn Environmental and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Customer

In light of the developments around Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that we have implemented measures ensuring our business can provide you with the best possible service during this time.

Our office-based staff have the ability to work from home if it is deemed necessary in order to provide our customers with continued support.

During this time, we will continue to fulfil our contractual obligations where practicable with the use of our usual mobile work force and part time staff, and where necessary our emergency response teams. We will do our best to continue to offer the additional services, such as bulk refuse removal and gutter clearances etc. However, there may be delays in some of these services should we need to step in and complete deep cleans for some of our more vulnerable and high-risk clients i.e. schools and sheltered accommodation sites.

Acorn’s staff have all had communication regarding what they can do to try to help reduce the spread of the infection not only in their homes but within our clients’ sites as well.

As our staff, and certainly our cleaning staff will be on your site(s) regularly, and to ensure that our staff are protected, we would ask that you inform us as soon as possible of the following:

·       Any confirmed cases at your site(s)

·       Anyone from your site(s) that is self-isolating

This information will allow us to make an informed decision as to how best to proceed on a site by site basis.

As a company our plan is to:

·       Identify employees at increased risk

·       Have the ability for our office staff to work from home with uninterrupted phone access should the need to isolate arise

·       Using remote access software to ensure we are able to continue to communicate with our clients

·       Follow the latest government guidelines to reduce the chances of infection and the spread of the virus

·       On-going communication with suppliers and clients allowing back-up plans to be implemented quickly

Acorn Environmental is committed to continue to provide the highest levels of service. Should we have any unexpected circumstances which may affect supply of goods and services, we will clearly communicate this to our customers via the normal communication channels.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us:

If your manager is due to come round in a couple of hours to do a spot check on the office, or if an important client is expected to arrive at any moment, it’s important to have clean desks. If your desk is usually covered in files, papers and odds and ends, you’ll probably be panicking at such short notice however, the good news is that these top tips to speedy desk cleaning will make sure you don’t get in trouble.

1.Get Everything Off The Desk

The first step to speedy desk cleaning to is remove everything from your desk’s surface. Put all the removed items in a pile beside you – you can go through it later and pick out essential items, rubbish for throwing away and what can be hidden in one of your desk drawers.

2.Wipe The Surfaces

After clearing all the items off the desk, you’ll see just how grimy its surfaces really are. Wipe down the computer screen, use a duster on the surface of the desk and keyboard and give the drawers a wipe down to make sure there are no coffee stains. Use a cleaning spray on a cloth to give the surfaces a once over and to keep them free from germs and smells. After disinfecting the desk, clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser so germs don’t spread.

3.Sorting The Clutter

Now you can turn your attention to the pile of clutter you took off the desk in the first place. Sort through quickly, throwing away all rubbish immediately. Make sure that you have a drawer set aside for office supplies that you can reach easily.

4.Start Filing

You’ll no doubt have a pile of paperwork that you’ve taken off the desk that now needs filing away. Shred any paperwork that you don’t require any more and then file away the rest. If you don’t have time to do this before the expected visit, put the paperwork together into a drawer out of sight ready for filing later or place it in a neat pile in your “in tray” ready to deal with afterwards.

5.Avoid Eating At The Desk

Although a working lunch is becoming more common than ever these days, you should still avoid eating at your desk. Crumbs and bits of food can end up causing bacteria to build up on your desk surface, telephone receiver and computer keyboard, and you often end up with a pile of discarded wrappers, bowls and silverware on your desk. After you’ve taken the time to clean and de-clutter your work space, you don’t want to ruin it all by covering it with debris.

A tidy desk will help you to be more productive and will help to create a positive view of your workplace. Not only that, but it’ll also make sure your office is a cleaner and more hygienic place to work. Hiring a team of professional cleaning experts can help to keep your working environment spotless, ensuring that even last minute visitors get the right impression.
